Wedding Card Box

I had no intention of making a card box, I was going to borrow one from a friend, but at the last minute, but after stacking 3 square Bed Bath & Beyond boxes on top of one another, I thought it would be absolutely perfect to make a card box.

It was quite a task. We needed to reinforce the box, so we used paint sticks from Ace Hardware. We also used a hot glue gun to secure the sticks to the box.

Each of the girls received a shall (of sorts) with their dress...and they all agreed that they did not want to wear it. So, my sister gave her her shall to use for the blue card box. I purchased ivory satin from Joann Fabrics for the bottom and top boxes.

We placed the fabric over the box to verify the lengths before we actually cut it! Once we cut it, we worked on one side, very carefully...so the seams were neat. We did it the same way you would wrap a package (or how you fold the corners of your sheets at the bottom).

Creating the slot for the cards was a bit difficult because the material kept fraying. We tried to glue it but we wound up using 1/2" ribbon to cover the both sides of the slot but it worked out perfectly!
